Meteorological department has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfalls in various parts of the country. It said that widespread and isolated but heavy rainfall activity will be witnessed in various parts of the country in next 2-3 days and decrease thereafter.
Indian Meteorological Department said in a statement on Sunday, “Under the influence of approaching trough in middle and upper tropo-spheric westerlies and its interaction with the low pressure area, fairly widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely.”
The department said that heavy rainfall activity is expected over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana from 4th to 6th October, 2009
Fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over Maharashtra, Telengana, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 24 hours and decrease thereafter.
Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Vidarbha and Telangana during the next 24 hours.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 48 hours.
